Edward Choice

Everything has a beginning.... and so has Edward Choice.

I was born in a way too sturdy folkhome, looking like every other house in the suburbian utopia, not far away from the big city, in the damned year of 1973. The year of the Watergate scandal, what a thing to miss. Influence drives people mad, or some people at least. But that is all history facts I will touch upon.

Edward Choice I was named, none of the names had existed in our family heritage as far as I knew. Our origins, I am not completely sure of. My pop always told me that with the Jewish blood in our veins, so far back that no one remembers. For all I knew we could have ancestors in Indian tribes, German bishops or generally any unlucky criminal Irish with a sense of adventure. I had a normal childhood in perfect family suburbia as a lone child with 2 loving parents, and an extreme sense of need to be recognized among my elders. Numbers were my specialty. I remember, as far back, as my 10 years birthday. Unlike the other children, I had no interest in Zoo's, playgrounds and the like, and the only thing I had been wishing for (other than my first suit), was to get my first stocks. You must understand, that as a child I had no legal obligation to invest in stocks, while my parents had all the right, but naught the money, to invest in firms and play with these so valuable pieces of paper.

With my natural talent, which I had developed from listening to neighbors, teachers and friends of my parents, my idea of stock markets quickly grew to a realization about how to control random numbers. It was a laugh of course, that a kid my age knew anything about "adult stuff", so I could get some action figures instead. At least until I was 10. The first step to build stairs, and eventually elevators to the higher levels of life opened before me at that time. 10 dollars - A great deal of money, to invest in whatever I thought to be the most lucrative business.

Computers were my first and only thought, the small amount of money would be given back manyfold, if I invested them in something that could be either going bankrupt within the next couple of years, or actually work out to the best.

The coming years, for each birthday I received the same amount of money, and invested them as I would see fit. As money grew on some accounts especially in computers, I was able to move them around to other fictional purposes. At first I was wary of certain challenges it could pose to move the fictional amount of money to something not completely solid, but later, as I saw the system through the course of firms, it was easy to draw and insert money into what I believed was best.

My education, if I should mention it shortly, is nothing to take of special notice. As I said my parents were not rich, but I got through high school, college and University mostly from the use of money I had received from my stocks. I got a masters degree in computer sciences with top grades. Nobody had really noticed my until then, and only from my beginning explaining of mathematical systems within computers I really got commended by the examiners. From there on I began my highrolling spree, as an individual businessmaker. I moved into the fair city of New York and began counting my money as they went up by themselves. I had most shares of the greatest software firm in the 90's, and still have good contacts within. It was at that point I began developing programs with the ability to guess the outcome of the stock market on a day to day basis. I had myself collected parts for a machine able to run these mechanics and it was in cooperation with the ever growing number of talented software developers I got the program up and running.

To this day, I have been able to live on that, invest and create a larger firm, now owning one of the new skyliners - As we say, let the fictional money be your real estate. I live in a small apartment, since my home is my tower, I work many hours. Have a lovely secretary. Beneath me, on the common ground of man, sits my desk jockeys, the new line of slaves, running the numbers. Some floors have new developers, young hearts wishing for a chance to touch the top. I have never believed that licking my boot would get you anywhere, but these machined slugs of buttlicking are free to take their try to impress me.

It is here it comes to what all around me asks of me. What of an heir: a descendant. Ah but love is not for me, it suffocates me to think of people, of social gatherings with little purpose other than socializing. Gatherings are to promote our work atmosphere, the reality to keep developing new methods of control within this society. The only woman I have around me is my assistant - as it is, and always have been an accepted tendency to have a female secretary. Beatrice is her name. Quite nice to write on her paycheck, mind you she is of course underpaid; or paid as is the norm with those of the opposite gender.
Heck, the only women I know the name of is my mother, Lilah and Beatrice. And thank gods for that.
